Look At The Past. There are certain behaviors in the past that caused the weight to be gained. Look at these behaviors to avoid the patterns that caused you to become overweight. Recognize these actions and habits and then decide what needs to be changed, so that you can get to where you want to be in the future.

It's also important to take responsibility for your actions. After all it wasn't the McDonald's you ate every other day for an entire year, it was the fact that you actually continued to do it without regard for your weight. When we blaming everything and one except ourselves it is hard to solve the problem. If you can take responsibility you can make the necessary changes.

The next order of business is to set goals. I know you want to lose weight, but how much? Tell yourself a specific amount and then break it down into smaller goals that are reachable. It's also important to stay away from making excuses. All these do is give you a reason to skip steps. When you skip steps you get off your regimen and either gain weight back or never progress. The truth is there are no excuses.

Believe. Not only believe, but internally know that you can succeed and lose weight. Visualize the new you. What will you be doing? How will you feel? Be detailed in your vision. Believe that you can get there. There has to be hope.

Don't be a procrastinator either. When you wait and continue to wait you will start making up excuses and never get started. The sooner you begin the faster you will feel about yourself. It's true that losing weight is not easy and will take time, but if you stay on course it's going to be easier.
