Almost everybody feels a certain amount of stress as they go about their daily lives and everyone handles it in their own way. Your tolerance to stress may be higher or lower than others and your coping skills may be better or worse. When stress becomes more than you can bare other problem can arise like depression, panic attacks and anxiety disorder.

Any type of exercise will yield some benefit, so matter what your fitness level is you can utilize this strategy. Go for a short walk, a bike ride or a swim. Your mood and your energy levels are affected by what you eat. If you constantly eat deep fried or nutrient low foods then your body is not going to be able to deal with the stresses you put on it as best as it can. Instead, choose a healthier balanced diet, the benefits reach further than helping with stress.

Laughter as Medicine

As we get older it seems that laughter is often missing from our lives. Take a lesson from kids and get out and laugh as often as you can. Have fun and play with your kids (if you have them). Enjoy the little things in life.

If you don't have any kids then no problem. Learn from them… take a little time each day to find humor in the world around you. Watch a funny show or visit with someone who makes you laugh.

Many people, especially men, keep things bottled up inside. This can be really unhealthy and it's important to be able to open up and get your feelings out. This can be a friend, spouse, parent or even a neighbor. Letting the feelings out can help relieve the symptoms of stress.

Remember that stress is part of daily life and nobody is immune. Leaning and, more importantly, using strategies for dealing with the stress in your life can help reduce the negative consequences that are often associated to the feeling of being stressed out.
