Popular Diets You Should Know About

There is so much money to be made selling weight loss information to the general public that the market has become flooded with products. And there is little regulation here.

The issue here, however, is that a surge of dangerous and ineffective fad diets have flooded the market.

Thus, here are some popular diets you need to know more about:

1. High protein: By high protein I mean an Atkins-like diet. The main attraction here is the rapid weight loss induced by dehydration. Not only does your body dehydrate, but your muscles dehydrate as well. You see, each gram of stored carbohydrate in your muscle holds onto 3 grams of water.

2. High carb: People with great insulin sensitivity can tolerate high carb diets while simultaneously losing weight. The problem with a high carb diet is that it can block weight loss if you are insulin resistant and you miss out on the satiating effects of protein.

3. The low fat fads: We used to hate fat then we started to love fat. And for good reason because if you take fat out of your diet, you will produce fewer and fewer fat burning hormones. Even worse, your levels of hunger will sky rocket because of faster digestion rates.

4. Integrated plans: By leaps and bounds, plans that integrate all the macronutrients in balance are the best for helping you lose weight. You see, consistent research from the top universities in the world has shown that combinations of nutrients are more healthy than single doses of nutrients.

5. Fasting: There are no large bodies of research demonstrating the benefits of fasting. You do not have to starve yourself in order to get toxins out of your body. Not only will this destroy your metabolism, but it will also make you insulin resistant in addition to burning through your muscle like a knife through butter.

If you really want to lose weight and keep it off instead of going up and down like a yoyo, stick with a balanced approach. Stay balanced with your nutrition and slowly reduce caloric intake. This is by far the best way to lose weight!
