A 3 Step Formula To Successful Weight Loss
The process of losing weight is easy to understand. It's not rocket science by any means. The difficult thing about weight loss is the mental commitment it takes to break habits and to resist food as a source of comfort for other emotional distresses. The problem with eating as an escape from life's problems is that it causes more problems. Your being overweight and wanting to change is proof of that.
It may surprise you to learn that weight loss isn't about kilograms or pounds. It's about a different unit of measurement altogether. It's about calories. Calories are the measurement used to keep track of energy in and energy out. And losing weight is simply a matter of putting the balance in favor of calories out. Even a tiny deficit of calories each day will mean you'll lose weight.
The first easy step to long term weight loss is to understand calories. You need to make a habit of reading food labels so you begin to realize how much calorie content different foods contain. You also need to understand how much of different types of physical activity or exercise burn calories. By understanding this equation you are going to be able to make better food and exercise choices.

The second step to long term weight loss is starting to lower you daily calorie intake. You don't have to do this all at once that way you'd be encouraged to do on a diet. This isn't about dieting. It's about understanding your energy needs and not overindulging. You wouldn't fill your petrol tank if you were only going to travel a mile. Neither should you eat more than you need.
The third easy weight loss step is beginning to increase your physical activities. You don't have to get a personal trainer to lose weight. You just have to move a little more. Start with short walks, swimming, playing games or sport, even dancing. All of these activities burn calories and combined with better food choices will begin to turn the tide on your weight problems.
These three simple steps or principles are the basis for long term weight loss. It's not rocket science. You should be able to understand and apply these steps slowly and soon you'll be losing weight and keeping it off. The good thing about doing something simple like this is that you can stick with it. Then it's just a matter of time before your weight is gone for good.
