Natasha’s triumph is a lesson to us all The Herts & Essex Observer, Sept 10th 2009

Media Work

Natasha speaks regularly at charity and campaign events as well as on TV and radio about the health and beauty issues which affect today's society. She has appeared in the local and national press and in Cosmopolitan Magazine. A news feature about Natasha's Body Confidence Campaign appeared on ITV News in conjunction with Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2010.

Natasha regularly writes guest columns for online and paper publications addressing issues such as young people and mental health, feminism and body image. She is also an in-house journalist for Evolve Magazine (dedicated to plus size beauty).  She also has her own blog, The Real Beauty Debate.

Her Story

At 18 years old, Natasha Devon was an Oxford Union debating champion, 3 times Best Speaker in Hertfordshire and self-proclaimed “Future President of the Universe”. Eight years later, she was laying face-down on the bedroom floor of her shared flat in Cambridge next to a plastic bag full of vomit, thinking of ways to kill herself.

After just two sessions with Mark Newey, one of the UK’s leading NLP, coaching and hypnotherapy practitioners, Natasha was able to liberate herself from bulimia nervosa and reclaim the life she desired and deserved.

Natasha became endlessly fascinated with how she made the journey between her 18 year old self, brimming with potential, and the person she was at 26, ravaged by bulimia. After recovering she devoted herself to campaigning, education and working in Mark’s clinic, to help others facing the same challenges.

Current Projects

Natasha now works for Winning Minds, Mark Newey’s practice, enlightening others about his spectacularly effective Neural Recoding © technique.

Using the basic principles of NLP, as well as her past experiences, she has launched a Body Confidence Campaign in association with Body Gossip and uses her public speaking skills to give motivational talks in schools, colleges and universities throughout the UK.  She has set up a helpline for the students to call for confidential advice, as well as an online forum with a variety of causes they can become involved with which put pressure on the fashion and beauty industries to represent the entire spectrum of beauty in their campaigns.

Natasha now does part time freelance modeling work, with the aim of providing an image which empowers and inspires other women, rather than making them feel insecure and inadequate. In November 2009, Natasha was First Runner Up in a European Plus Size Model competition and her image has been used to promote Facebook groups, with members totaling over 1 million.
