Natasha Devon – Press Biography
“Natasha’s triumph is a lesson to us all” The Herts & Essex Observer, Sept 10th 2009

At 18 years old, Natasha Devon was an Oxford Union debating champion, 3 times Best Speaker in Hertfordshire and self-proclaimed “Future President of the Universe”. Eight years later, she was laying face-down on the bedroom floor of her shared flat in
Natasha spent nearly a decade suffering from very severe bulimia nervosa, which robbed her of her potential and left her feeling isolated and depressed. She had successfully completed her degree in English and embarked on a career as a model and singer songwriter under the pseudonym Mis-Dee and despite her self-penned ballad “Slowly” being well received and made into a music video and modeling for ultra trendy fashion label “Uber” (who dress Gwen Stephani’s harijuku girls) her eating disorder had robbed her of any happiness.
After just two sessions with Mark Newey, one of the UK’s leading NLP, coaching and hypnotherapy practitioners, Natasha was able to liberate herself from bulimia nervosa and reclaim the life she desired and deserved.
Natasha now works for Winning Minds, Mark Newey’s practice, enlightening others about his spectacularly effective “neural recoding” technique. Using the basic principles of NLP, as well as her past experiences, she has launched a body confidence campaign and uses her public speaking skills to give motivational talks in schools and colleges as well as universities throughout the UK. In Spring 2010 Natasha will be bringing the campaign to Gloucestershire College and Birmingham University . She has set up a helpline for the students to call for confidential advice, as well as an online forum with a variety of causes they can become involved with which put pressure on the fashion and beauty industries to represent the entire spectrum of beauty in their campaigns. Natasha’s body confidence campaign is supported by plus size Super Model Chloe Marshall.
Natasha is a member of the council which organises and promotes national charity campaign “Body Gossip” which features celebrities such as Natalie Cassidy, Shobna Guillati, Nikki Grahame and Ann Diamond. In Autumn 2010 there will be a week of Body Gossip performances in a celebration of Real Beauty and Natasha will also perform herself as Mis-Dee.
Natasha now does part time freelance plus size modeling work, with the aim of providing an image which empowers and inspires other women, rather than making them feel insecure and inadequate. In November 2009, Natasha was First Runner Up in a European Plus Size Model competition and her image has been used to promote Plus Size Model and Curvy Girl fanclubs on Facebook, with members totaling over 1 million.
Natasha has written columns for The Feminine Zone (online magazine for women) and Young Minds (addressing young people and mental health) as well as being a regular contributor to Evolve Magazine (dedicated to plus size beauty). Natasha is currently writing a book which recounts the dramatic effect her eating disorder had on her mental equilibrium, gives a candid account of bulimia nervosa and how NLP rescued her, as well as an insight into the music and fashion industries.
Natasha has appeared in the local press and in Cosmopolitan Magazine in March 2010. She regularly gives radio interviews, including BBC Essex, Cambridge, Gloucestershire and London, LBC, Star FM and Heart FM. A news feature about Natasha's Body Confidence Campaign appeared on ITV News in conjunction with Eating Disorders Awareness Week (22-27 Feb 2010).
